Ketamine Therapy

How we work together

Expanded state work, such as Ketamine, can be very powerful in cultivating personal change. Having an established trusting relationship is key to exploring deep life themes.  Preparation to build connection and trust is important.  Once a mutual trust is established, working with what comes up is much easier.  If we opt for ketamine sessions, some clients experience shifts rapidly.  Creating sustained changes take more time.  Flexibility around timing, pace and integration as well as how long we work together are key.  Some people require longer inital work (6-8 months), others need monthly sessions to support and reinforce changes.  Still others have profound changes and only come back for tune-ups every few months or not at all.  Its up to you.

What happens

  1. Preparatory Work

  2. Expanded State

  3. Integration

1. Preparatory Work

I like to do a thorough assessment to learn more about you. Together, we will  talk about your goals, timing and set an initial course of treatment. It is key for you to feel safe physically and emotionally.

I work with a Physician who will see you independantly. They will do a medical clearance, discuss any questions or concerns and check for medication interactions. If cleared, they will prescribe Ketamine lozenges.

2. Expanded State

KAP (ketamine assisted therapy) session are 3 hours, allowing for connection, intention and spaciousness.  I will be with you the entire time.

After settling in, and 20 minutes after you take the medicine, it reaches it’s full effect.  You will have about an hour in the expanded state.

My role in the room is as a witness, scribe and  guide.  We will find a rhythm together to explore your experience. and deepen into content that arises.  I often take notes.

Then, we will spend the remainder of our time reflecting.  I use movement, breathing, talking, writing or even artist expression.  This allows you to consolidate insights - and take home reminders to weave into your ordinary life.

Many people find that there is a lingering after the experience ends and i encourage clients to notice how you see the world and your inner experience.  I like to see clients in a day or two to reinforce and begin integration.

3. Integration

Our meeting, a few days later is where the real benefits begin.  The notes from your session and our discussions around them allow you to make meaning of your experience as well as focus on action steps to embrace acceptance, change and growth.

Integration may also include bringing a trusted friend or family member into our conversation to support your growth and change.

KAP, like any dream that is symbolically rich, offers a unique opportunity to address psychological and somatic material in new ways.  Your curiosity and willingness to make sense of your experience, from the sublime to the challenging, will support incorporating change; from altered state to altered traits.
