I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have been working in mental health since 1993. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Boston University and my Masters in Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies.
I have maintained a private psychotherapy practice for adolescents and adults, provided psychotherapy in inpatient settings as well as community-based psychotherapy. I am a supervisor at the Center for Somatic Therapy and provide consultation for Blackbird Family Therapy.
Because of my training and experience, I work well with adolescents and adults who have a history of trauma and/or struggle with depression and anxiety. I understand how these issues impact people and am effective in helping clients feel comfortable so that they can look at distressing issues and gain the insight and skills needed to make lasting changes.
My work as a therapist began in 2000 and I have been licensed since 2005.
I have years of experience working with people from diverse and/or alternative social, cultural and economic backgrounds and believe in social and racial justice, individual and community empowerment.
I am influenced by psychodynamic psychotherapy, systems thinking and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). I also draw from modalities such as Ecopsychology, Yoga and Yoga Therapy and Somatic and Expressive Arts Therapy.
